Greg Santucci's poster for anyone who has been handed a behavior chart. The old paradigm sorts every behavior into four functions: attention seeking, escape, getting something, or sensory. The PENS Lens asks what the behavior is coming from instead:
- A Problem they can’t solve
- An Emotion they can’t handle
- A Need that’s not being met
- A Skill they don’t have
Each one points to a way to help. It prints on a single letter-size page, ready for a therapy room, a classroom wall, or the fridge at home.
